Make your festive journey as smooth as possible
Plan your journey
How long will it take to get from A to B? It might be a good idea to pack a good book or pick up a copy of our complimentary magazine to keep you occupied. We also suggest bringing a mobile phone charger if you've booked a seat next to a socket, as that way you can make the most of our free 4G WiFi all the way.
Stay watered and fed
The Retreat Cafe Bar in Coach B is fully stocked with hot and cold sandwiches, a variety of soft and alcoholic drinks, crisps, chocolate bars and biscuits. You can also take advantage of meal deal options and daily specials, saving the pennies for your destination. You can find a full list of snacks and refreshments here.
It may sound like a strange tip, but take a peek out of the window from time to time. The British countryside can be truly beautiful and inspired the poetry of both Philip Larkin and John Betjeman, so tear your eyes away from your mobile to absorb your surroundings before you're back in a train station.
Stretch your legs
Though it's tempting to remain comfy in your seat for the entire journey, we recommend getting up at least once between stations during long journeys. This will allow you to stretch your muscles and keep your blood pumping, plus you could grab a bite to eat or pop to the loo whilst youre at it.
First Hull Trains can take you direct to Doncaster, Grantham, Retford and King's Cross. During the festive period, everywhere becomes a whole lot busier than usual, especially London.
