Are dogs, cats and small pets allowed on trains?
Can I bring my dog on Hull Trains?
Yes, you can bring your dog on a Hull Trains service. Dogs must be kept on a lead or in a carrier for the duration of your journey, off seats and not blocking aisles, doorways or wheelchair user spaces.
Can I bring my cat or small pet on Hull Trains?
You are welcome to bring up to two cats or small domesticated pets on Hull Trains services. Cats and small animals should be kept in secure pet carriers when travelling with us.
Pet carriers can be a maximum of 85x60x60cm.
Do pets travel free on trains?
As per the National Rail Conditions of Travel, you can bring up to two pets with you onboard a Hull Trains service.
Pets in First Class
Pets can travel in First Class with you, and the same policy applies throughout the train – pets must be kept on a lead or in a pet carrier, not on seats or blocking aisles or doorways.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome onboard Hull Trains services. We advise booking your travel through our Passenger Assist service to accommodate for additional leg room for your dog. Dogs are not permitted to occupy customer seating.
Tips for travelling with your pet
By keeping pets calm and controlled, journeys can remain safe and comfortable for all passengers and crew onboard.
Give them time to settle before boarding, and arrive at the station with plenty of time. We encourage carrying your pet to avoid accidents when boarding/disembarking. Once onboard, keep them settled by your feet, not in the aisle or on seats. Keep them on a short lead onboard, at stations, and around other passengers. Please keep in mind that some passengers may not be comfortable around animals.
Always bring water, even for a short train journey.
