Eleven talented young people from Hull have won a prestigious national award, recognising their anti-racism film.

Popular open access operator, Hull Trains, facilitated their journey as they went to the ‘Into Film Awards’ at the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square. The youngsters won the ‘Time for Action’ category.

Their animation film, ‘Just Ignore It’, is based on real life experiences of racism. It features tips on how to challenge racism in a safe way.

Lou Mendham, Service Delivery Director at Hull Trains, said: “We’re passionate about local communities at Hull Trains. Therefore, it was our pleasure to support the inspirational team from Youth Aspire Connect travelling to London.

“The organisation does important work within the Hull community and it’s great to see a project like this one getting national recognition. Congratulations to all involved.”

Franklin Onukwugha, Founder and Chair of Youth Aspire Connect, said: “We’re so pleased to have received this support from the team at Hull Trains. Their kind gesture allowed us to take eleven talented young people to London for what was a truly amazing evening.

“This award is a clear demonstration of the resilience and commitment among Hull’s young people. I feel incredibly proud to see them get this recognition. Thanks to Hull Trains, the whole team were able to celebrate their success together.”
