After enjoying success at the Hull BID awards recently, Hull Trains is continuing the celebrations after being awarded a perfect food hygiene score of 5 with zero recommendations following an unannounced visit from Hull’s City Council.

The rating maintains scores last gathered in February 2019, this time improving with ‘very good’ ratings across the board and receiving zero recommendations on how to improve.

The high rating highlights not only the hygiene of the handling of the food on board but also the cleanliness and condition of the facilities where food is prepared, the way food is prepared and the overall management of food safety.

Patrick Tobin, Head of On Board Experience at Hull Trains, explained: “I’m absolutely overjoyed with this result. The fact it was unannounced just shows me that our colleagues completely understand what we’re trying to do on board and we’re doing it in the right way all the time. Our colleagues are regularly trained on food hygiene and allergy awareness both externally and internally with refresher courses and we ensure any suppliers we use follow the same guidelines as us.”

“It’s a great bit of recognition for the team who work hard on board every day to maintain these standards for our customers.”
