Trains to Beverley
A recent addition to the Hull Trains route, Beverley is situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire, just eight miles from Hull. A popular market town and once the capital of the East Riding, Beverley is noted for its Minster and religious background, as well as the popular markets and festivals held in the town.

The town was first founded in 700 AD by John of Beverley and is the namesake for the famous Beverley Hills in California. The town offers beautiful Medieval and Georgian architecture, plenty of history, a backdrop of cafes, pubs and restaurants and the famous Beverley Westwood meaning there is lot’s for visitors to explore.
The town’s most famous landmark, Beverley Minster is regarded as one of the most beautiful churches in England and lies on the tomb of St John of Beverley. Another historic feature is the parish church of St Mary’s, which has become famous for a carving of a rabbit, which is said to have inspired Lewis Carroll’s ‘March Hare’ from the well-known Alice in Wonderland.
Other notable attractions are Beverley Westwood, a vast green where cattle graze freely, Beverley Racecourse where several popular horse races are held and the market place which has brought droves of visitors to Beverley every Wednesday and Saturday for years. As well as all this, you will find an excellent choice of restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars.

Beverley railway opened in 1846 and the station is now a Grade II listed building.

Beverley Minster is the Parish Church of St. John and St. Martin and stands on the site where the tomb of John, Bishop of York who died in 721. Throughout the Middle Ages miracles are said to take place at this tomb which attracted pilgrims from far and wide. Today the church continues to be a place of pilgrimage for visitors far and wide as well as a place of prayer and worship at the heart of the Beverley community.

Beverley Westwood is an open space on the edge of the west of Beverley. During the summer months cattle and sheep graze freely among the pasture. The Westwood is a perfect place for a family days out and walking days with many popular routes found online.

Set in the stunning surroundings of the Westwood, Beverley racecourse has been part of Beverley for over 300 years. Horse races are held from April through to September and are home to of the biggest events in the UK. The Hilary, Needler Trophy, Rapid Lad Handicap, Beverley Bullet and The Journal Ladies’ Day are all popular events.

White Horse Inn

Locally known as Nellie’s, the White Horse Inn pre-dates 1666 and is Beverley’s second oldest inn.
