Just outside of Retford, this unique theme park is entirely devoted to the under 10s and their families. With a soft indoor play area, countless child-friendly rides and outdoor worlds, Sundown Adventureland is definitely a day out to remember. There is too much to choose from the long list of exciting activities at the park, so we have picked out the best bits.

Take a trip to Sherwood Forest

Travel back in time and meet Robin and his band of Merry Men. Don't let Robin's arch enemy, the Sherriff of Nottingham, catch you, as you slowly sneak through King John's Castle. Take sanctuary in the forest as you befriend Will Scarlet and Little John, and later enjoy the merriments in the famous Major Oak tree.

Ride around the Rocky Mountain

With its narrow tunnels, heavy boulders and powerful waterfalls, the Rocky Mountain is no place for the faint-hearted! Dodge bandits, robbers and outlaws on your treacherous but thrilling journey through Calamity Canyon. Will you make it to the next station?

Jump aboard the Boozy Barrel Boat Ride

Wind your way down the rapid river on this charming water ride. Beware the crocodile and squirting pigs as you navigate the rippling stream, and don't expect to stay dry! A trip to be enjoyed by the whole family, especially on a hot summer's day.

Explore the themed play areas

The vast choice of themed play areas is one of the main attractions of the park. With a little imagination, young ones can get lost in the magical fairy tale world of miniature storybook houses, wander around the candy-enforced walls of Lollipoppet Castle, and experience the Wild West in Fort Apache and Shotgun City.

Have a crash landing

Taking its name for its own 8-metre waterfall slide, the Crash Landings indoor play area offers four storeys of jungle fever. Let your kids explore the wilderness as they climb and crawl in the soft playground, which is ideal for rainy days. Watch out for the mischievous monkeys, enormous snake and talkative parrot! Meanwhile, the adults can take a break in the jungle cafe with a cup of tea and bite to eat.

Fill your tummy

Talking of tea breaks, Sundown provides a wide variety of eateries, including the Rodeo Corral snack bar and Honey's Pumpkin Pie Cafe, as well as the previously mentioned Crash Landings restaurant. Moreover, there is an abundance of outdoor seating too, so why not bring a picnic from home and enjoy the sun?

Meet Santa Clause

If you're planning a Christmas treat, why not take the little ones to Sundown? Visit Santa Claus in his own magnificent winter wonderland, experience a magical trip through the enchanted forest and climb aboard the brand new Night Before Christmas ride. In the meantime, grown-ups can enjoy warm soup, festive food and fruit punch at the seasonal stalls.

The opening times of the park vary considerably throughout the year so be sure to check their website before you plan your trip. Adult and Child Tickets start from £14.00 and under 2s go free.
