TRAVEL GREENER WITH HULL TRAINS

Did you know train travel is one of the greenest forms of transport and just one train can remove hundreds of cars from the road? Leave your car at home and travel greener when you go by train. Travelling with Hull Trains can save over 90% in CO2 compared to driving the same journey.

Our Paragon fleet of trains operate on bi-mode technology meaning we can run on both electic and diesel where we have overhead electrical wires available on our route. Running on electricity allows us to decrease our emissions and also reduces our noise pollution.

Find journey details below to see how much CO2 you can save when you travel with Hull Trains.

Travelling Greener By Rail

Travelling by train is a more sustainable way to get from A to B than driving alone in a private car. Rail is a low carbon mode of transport and plays a key role in helping to minimise the carbon impacts of transport. Our Paragon fleet of trains are bi-mode and can operate in both energy efficient diesel mode or by using overhead electric lines.

Our Actions Towards Environmental Sustainability

Not only do we want to provide the best possible journey experience for our passengers, we are constantly looking to make positive changes to the way we operate to benefit the environment. From pollution prevention to resource conservation, we are actively working to minimise our footprint to become more sustainable.

We are always looking at opportunities to enhance and protect the environment where we can control and influence whether it be through the energy we use, the products we buy, the suppliers we use to the waste created by our activities.

Protecting Our Environment

We want to provide the best possible journey experience including making a positive contribution to environmental sustainability. To help us achieve this, we operate environmental and energy management systems.

Hull Trains' energy management system (EnMS) is certified against BS EN ISO 50001:2018 by BSI. The scope of our certification is ‘The energy management system for the provision of passenger rail transportation and head office activities’. BS EN ISO 50001:2018 is the recognised international standard for EnMSs designed to make the most from energy technology. A good EnMS ensures that we understand how our organisation uses energy for operating trains, heating, cooling, and lighting etc., and the opportunities to reduce our energy usage.
