Engineering Works - November & December
Planned engineering works
What’s happening and what does it mean for passengers?
Over weekends in November and December, planned engineering works will cause alterations to Hull Trains services, including services being diverted via Lincoln and starting and terminating at Selby, with bus services between Hull and Selby.
When are the engineering works happening?
The works will be completed on the weekends of:
- 10th November – works in the Grantham area
- 11th November – works in the East Yorkshire area
- 17th/18th November – works in the Peterborough area
- 24th/25th November – works in the East Yorkshire and Peterborough areas
- 1st/2nd December – works in the East Yorkshire and Peterborough areas
Why are the works being completed?
The work is part of the Great North Rail project and is part of a huge £50million upgrade into the railway in East Yorkshire.
The signalling system will be upgraded with 49 new signals which will move from the old lineside signal boxes to Network Rail’s state-of-the-art Rail Operating Centre in York. On top of this, 11 level crossings will also be renewed to improve safety.
Essentially, Hull Trains passengers will benefit with a more modern railway, designed to increase resilience during times of disruption.
Planned engineering works will also be taking place on various weekends around Grantham and Peterborough, which will cause extended journey times due to diversions in place.
What does this mean for my Hull Trains service?
An altered timetable is in place for each weekend, so please allow plenty of time for travel.
Services will be diverted via Lincoln every weekend, due to the works in the Grantham and Peterborough areas.
Services will also start and terminate at Selby on the 11th, 24th, 25th November and 1st, 2nd December. Rail replacement services will be available between Hull and Selby on these dates.
Staff will be available at each station to guide you onwards and advise on the next steps for your journey. Details around altered services will also be available here: www.journeycheck.com/hulltrains
As a result, services will not be calling at Beverley, Cottingham, Retford and Grantham.
