Hull Trains, the UK’s Rail Operator of the Year is today celebrating its 17th birthday – and what a 17 years it has been.

In just the past year alone, Hull Trains has reported unprecedented increases in customer journeys, introduced new services, rolled-out new on-board enhancements, gained Gold standard Investors in People accreditation, launched customer service excellence training for all colleagues and a suite of Learning & Development programmes and for the fourth consecutive year Hull Trains has have topped the National Rail Passenger Survey (NRPS) for satisfaction at 97% - 8% higher than the average of long distance operators.

It has also collected a suite of awards in the past 12 months including Rail Operator of the Year 2016/7 at the Rail Business Awards; the Mail Business Award for ‘Customer Focus’ and the ‘Customer Service Team of the Year’ award at the inaugural North of England Transport Awards 2016.

Will Dunnett, Managing Director for Hull Trains says: “As a business with its roots in the city, we are proud to represent Hull and the Humber region. We have supported Hull in its city of culture year with additional services and timetables and have enjoyed unprecedented customer growth.

“We began life in 2000, with just three services a week from Hull to London Kings Cross, serving 80,000 customers in our first year. Today we run 92 services a week, not just from Hull, but also from Beverley and Cottingham as we ensure that our city and its surrounding villages, remains connected to our capital and can compete on the same playing field as other major cities. Through our strong customer focus, we now serve over one million customers a year.”

Hull Trains also announced last November a £60million investmentin a brand new fleet of high-tech Hitachi trains that will deliver 50% extra seating, enhanced interiors and the potential for faster speeds. This follows the companies success in securing an unprecedented track access extension from the Office of Rail and Road, which gives customers certainty of direct services to and from London until 2029.

Thank you to all our custmers for your loyalty and suport and for making Hull Trains the company it is today!
